For Patients

A diagnosis of prostate cancer can be confronting for not just our patients, but their family, friends and workmates.  We can reassure patients and families that with the use of the most modern radiotherapy techniques available in Australia, we are dedicated to ensuring the highest cure rates for men with prostate cancer, as well as keeping the risk of unwanted side effects to a minimum.

Since the opening of our image guided IMRT prostate radiotherapy programme in 2007, we have had overwhelming success against both these objectives.  Our five year outcome data demonstrated excellent PSA responses and our patient questionnaires have shown that the average urinary and bowel function scores did not deteriorate following treatment.  These are still early figures (which we have attached as an appendix to this website) and we plan to continue to analyse and update these figures over the years to come.

We hope that you find this website useful and encourage you to speak to one of our team if you have any questions about any of the information.  We would like to thank all those who continue to support our Unit and our endeavours to provide the best possible care to our patients.
